The Shadowfell, or Svartalfheim, is a dark and largely evil plane of undeath and suffering. Those who draw upon its magic leave some of their souls behind as payment. In the far outlands of the Shadowfell, the great wolf Fenrir roams. Odin has foreseen he will come to Midgard and do battle with the gods when Ragnarok comes.
Locations
The Shadowfell is dominated by spiky landscapes and dead forests, thrust into eternal darkness. There are pockets of living vegetation, and even some settlements, but they are few and far between.
Fort Nox
Located on top of a jagged mountain, this nigh-impregnable fortress holds many secrets. A never-ending lightning storm surrounds the mountain, making any approach very dangerous.
The dungeons of Fort Nox hold many magical creatures and beings, gathered here for some nefarious purpose.
The keep is home to the Nightforge, where many powerful artifacts of the Shadowfell have been made over the aeons.
