Edge of Night

Weapon (dagger), paragon (requires attunement by an Agent of Shadow Rogue)

The curved blade of this large dagger is made from black metal. The guard of the dagger is set with a sanguine star ruby with a flickering spark inside that almost seems to pulse like a heart.

Dormant

  • You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls with this weapon, which also has the Twin mastery.
  • If you deal a critical hit with this weapon, it applies a stack of Marked for Death to the target.
  • Cursed: Wielding the blade saps some of your life force. While you are attuned to the Edge of Night, you have disadvantage on Death Saving Throws.

Upgrade: Infuse the blade with very rare negative and chaotic essences.

Awakened

  • The dagger's bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +2.
  • When you kill a Humanoid with this weapon, you can weave an illusion around yourself to take on its appearance for 1 hour, as per the Disguise Self spell. The DC to disbelieve the illusion equals your Cunning Strike save DC. Once you do this, you must finish a short or long rest until you can do so again.
  • Cursed: The curse takes hold over you. Magical healing you receive is halved.

Upgrade: Infuse the blade with legendary negative and lawful essences.

Exalted

  • The dagger's bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +3, and it deals a critical hit on a 19.
  • Creatures can no longer use Blindsight to perceive you.
  • Cursed: Your eyes become red as you succumb to the curse. When you start your turn in direct sunlight, you take 10 radiant damage and you have disadvantage on attacks until the start of your next turn.
