Monks who follow this psionic tradition can create astral images of their soul around themselves, and have honed this skill to such a degree they incorporate it into their martial art. For most Astral Warriors, the soul that they project is their own, but some have merged their soul with some other being, gaining a permanent ally. This is a redux of the 5e14 Way of the Astral Self from TCoE.
For some monks, such as the elven nobles of House Aenihar, these abilities are inherited through the generations. For others, it is the result of intense meditation, or the lasting effect of a trip through the Astral Plane.
You choose the appearance of your inner self and how it manifests around you. Perhaps you are surrounded by a swarm of ghostly fists, or do you conjure the spiked tail of a stegosaurus? The shape that your inner self takes is often connected to some part of your ancestry, such as an archfey for an eladrin, a balor for a tiefling, or one of the great spirits for a Sylvanite.
Level 3: Arms of the Astral Self
You have learned to incorporate your inner self in your attacks. Your unarmed strikes gain the Reach property, and you can use Wisdom when calculating your unarmed attack modifier and the DC for your Grapples and Shoves.
Level 3: Psionic Mind
You learn the Mage Hand cantrip. You can also spend 1 Focus Point to cast Detect Magic. All spells you cast from this feature use Wisdom as their spellcasting ability and have all their components replaced with Somatic components.
Level 6: Visage of the Astral Self
Your connection to your inner self deepens, letting you take on the appearance of your soul. When triggered from your Unarmed Strikes, your Stunning Strike now assails the mind of your enemies, becoming a Wisdom saving throw. You can also use Wisdom in place of Charisma for all Charisma checks and saves.
Additionally, you can spend 2 Focus Points to cast Detect Thoughts through your Psionic Mind.
Level 11: Body of the Astral Self
You walk under the protection of your inner self. All damage you take except force is reduced by your proficiency bonus, and the first time on each turn you deal damage with an unarmed strike you deal an additional Martial Arts die of damage.
Additionally, you can spend 3 Focus Points to cast Dispel Magic through your Psionic Mind.
Level 17: Awakened Astral Self
You have fully merged with your inner self. You can make three attacks as part of your Attack action, and you gain 60 feet of Truesight and Telepathy.
Additionally, you can spend 5 Focus Points to cast Telekinesis through your Psionic Mind.
