House Silroth

Star-staff

The wizard House Silroth revolves around magical cunning. All houses have a few wizards on staff - probably trained in Silroth towers. This service does not come cheap, nor are the wizards true allegiance fully known. Some houses prefer to hire mages from Siltharel or even the Archivists, but these rarely last very long, as Silroth is keen to keep themselves as the prime purveyor of arcane magic in Amnora.

House Silroth derives their name from a powerful heirloom staff. This staff, topped with a large refracting crystal, is wielded by the head of the family, enhancing their magical powers. Their indigo crest shows this staff on a background of runes.

The Silroth retinue mainly consists of wizards, who are rarely employed in open combat on their own. Instead, they try to solve problems before they arise through research, divination, and prevention. Should push come to shove, they also have a smaller force of spellswords.

House Silroth are sworn enemies with House Aenidin, whom they view as untrustworthy scoundrels - something they are not afraid to say. Silroth usually only sends a single person to Aenidin feasts, a marker of disdain stronger than not sending anyone.

House Silroth are known for incorporating illusion magic in their outfits for feasts. Once, a young upstart of House Aenidin attempted to dispel their glamours to embarrass them on the dancefloor, but was met by a dozen counterspells and as many wands pointed his way.

Imon Silroth

The second tallest building in the city, after Ambar Araeril, is the central spire of the Silroth manor, a sprawling wizard's tower. The interior of the tower holds several magical laboratories as well as a private library with an extensive collection of arcane tomes. Near the top floors, there is a landing area for their signature floating palanquins, and the top floor houses an observatory for making astronomical measurements.

The air around the tower is dense with magical wards, and summoned elementals guard the entrances. There are several doors in the compound that seem to change their destination, which is very useful to those who know the patterns, while also slowing down and confusing intruders. Sometimes, the doors lead to extradimensional spaces, extending the limited space in the tower.

  • Patience: It is best to not act until you know all the facts. (Neutral)
    • My inaction should not be mistaken for indifference.
    • Sometimes the easiest way to defeat your foes is not in open conflict but through outlasting them.
