Prophecies and you
All of the prophecies here are presented as plot hooks. If you would like your character to interact with one of these prophecies or one like them, talk to the DM.

Seers, haruspexes and soothsayers all put their effort into divining what the future holds. However, there is a world of difference between learning tomorrow's weather and seeing how empires fall and the land reshaped. For all but the most skilled practitioners of divination magic, premonitions are often vague or irrelevant. The gift of true foresight is incredibly rare, and most divination is performed through crude rituals or by bribing extraplanar entities for their knowledge.
Glimpses of the future are always fickle beasts to interpret, and it is not rarely the case that the actions taken to avoid it happening turns out to be what sets the foretold events in motion. By far the most famous prophecy was foretold by Odin himself about the end of the world. Mortals and gods alike have kept watch for the signs of the ever-impending twilight for many ages.
There are many different ways of reading the future, each employed by different magical traditions. The prophecies on this page were divined in a variety of ways, and then refined to their canonical written form.
- Pyromancy: A pyromancer sees the future in fire, either as images in the flames, or by observing how something burns.
- Oneiromancy: The study of prophetic dreams deal with interpreting visions gained during sleep or other altered mental states. More commonly performed by primal spellcasters.
- Astromancy: The stars above hold many secrets, and some can read omens from their paths and occultations. Performed by both primal and arcane magicians.
- Cartomancy: Reading the future with the help of a deck of cards.
- Astragalomancy: An astragalomancer uses dice to ask questions about the future.
The Fall
Dusk falls on the Eternal City When the silver scale is shed By one who speaks like an angel But has the horns of a devil Ever on his bed of gold
This prophecy was received by Empress Herminia Casta, a powerful wizard. While it seemed to speak of the fall of the Teccan Empire, it was not taken seriously (except to stir up anti-tiefling sentiment). Many historians have argued about who the prophecy refers to.
The Hero of Awe
Defiant, resilient, and wild Aegir's chosen, they will sail Loved by some, feared by all They take up arms out of need To become the sea's master
This refers to a chosen hero of Aegir, and has been passed down through generations by his worshippers. Exactly what becoming the master of the sea entails is not clear.
The Red Lady
From the east she comes Red of hair and dress Flame and fire she brings Woe to those in her way A pit of endless burning Is what awaits her enemy
Foretold by Svala Hornkeeper on her deathbed in 1311 AUC. She was a wise woman in the employ of Clan Ambermane.
The Golden Prince
One will come to take council A great hunter, a strong mind They arrive a lowborn stranger And departs a golden prince
This prophecy was uttered by a novice scribe on his first day taking notes in Council Hall in Covenant. It has been interpreted as a warning against someone who will usurp the democratic government of Estia and take power for themselves as monarch.
The Heavensteel Heir
The heir to the sword Of mighty heavensteel Will prove their worth By slaying a dragon of The color of their eyes Thus shall they be known
There are not many sky iron blades in the world, and fewer still that have a prophecy foretold about them. It is not known exactly which sword this verse speaks of, nor who foretold it. Many adventurers have fallen as they tried to fulfill this prophecy.
