Legionnaire, Centurion, and Legate of the Teccan Legion
This style of armor was issued to the professional soldiers in the employ of the Teccan Empire. At its height, the Empire commanded tens of thousands of soldiers organized into more than twenty legions. The uniform has become a symbol of Teccan power, and elements of its design are still commonly seen today.
Legionnaire
The armor consists of a segmented bronze cuirass and spaulders that covers the chest and shoulders, a deep red leather-reinforced skirt, bronze vambraces and shinguards that reach above the knees. It also includes a helmet with chinplates.
- You gain a +1 bonus to AC while you wear this armor.
- When you score a critical hit or reduce an enemy to 0 hit points with a melee weapon, you can take the Dodge action as a bonus action.
Sergeant
A sergeant commands a single maniple, a unit of 24 soldiers. The leather skirt is replaced with legplates for added protection, and a mail shirt is added underneath the armor, and the shinguards are replaced by full boots. To signify command, the helmet gains a crest of red horse hair that runs along the peak, and a red cloak and sash across the chest is added.
- Incoming critical hits against you are turned into normal hits.
- You gain a +1 bonus to saving throws for each ally within 10 feet of you. The bonus cannot exceed your proficiency bonus.
Centurion
A centurion commands a century of four maniples. The legplates are extended down. The cloak is exchanged for one of black fur (usually from a bear), the crest on the helm becomes transverse and much larger. Finally, a second sash is added in a saltire shape.
- The armor's bonus to AC increases to +2.
- Damage you take is reduced by your proficiency bonus.
