Vanadis

Vanadis (God's Haven in elvish) is the realm of the Pilgrim Knights. An impassable mountain range, the Glimmerteeth, isolates the peninsula from the rest of the mainland. Vanadis is also home to some volcanic activity, especially in Elderholm.

Luthilon Valley

The Luthilon (elvish for 'Sun-stream') river runs down a wide valley to the sea, widening into a small lake of the same name. Solstice lies at one end of this lake. The landscape consists of sparse forests and fertile farmland, slowly sloping up towards the Eyrie. This is the most densely populated part of Vanadis.

Solstice

Solstice is the largest city in Vanadis, named in honor of the most sacred day of its patron deity, the goddess Freya. It is dominated by the Grand Refuge, the headquarters of the Pilgrim Knights. The town sprung up around the large fortress when it was built, and has become a bustling trade hub in its own right.

Elderholm

The fortified settlement of Elderholm has been constructed on a small island just off Blackcoast Isle, just southeast of Vanadis. The town is connected to the island by a narrow causeway that is only traversable during low tide. The Pilgrim Knights have built a monastery here, and eventually the town was fortified into the stronghold it is today.

Marshal's Rest

A large glowoak stands over the entrance to the subterranean tomb that is the burial site of Nicholas Lighthallow, who was Marshal of the Pilgrim Knights when they were granted the peninsula of Vanadis. A shrine here is manned by charitors, and several other high-ranking Pilgrims are buried here.

The Eyrie

The Eyrie is the tallest point on Vanadis proper. It is home to a clan of Aquilon.

The Haylands

The southern plain is a wide open plain of green grass. Wild horses graze here, and many people tame horses for the Pilgrim cavalry to ride.

Astael

A majority-elven town built around natural hot springs. The land around Astael is some of the most fertile farmland in the Estian Sea. The town is known for raising the fastest and strongest horses available to buy.

Celdan Tartiriex

(wood elf, NG, 140): Master horse tamer. His best horses are usually bought by the Pilgrim Knights, but some are on the open market, where they fetch very high prices. He rides Saevir, a midnight black fullblooded stallion.

Vesperwall

The Vesperwall marks the southern boundary of Vanadis. It stretches for almost three miles, from the hills of the Glimmerteeth to the sea. Keeping the wall manned requires much resources, but the Pilgrim's are confident that no foe will breach the wall while they defend it. The road south from Vesperwall is treacherous bandit country, and there is barely any civilization until you reach Sacellea.

Stonegrave

Beyond the town of Stonegrave, the Lighthills open up.

Glimmerstone Quarry

Discovered only after the Pilgrim Knights gained control over Vanadis, the Glimmerstone Quarry is a source of gold and gems of various types. Heavily guarded, this mine has become an important source of wealth for the Pilgrims.

The Gloommire

A murky swamp takes up much of the northern part of Vanadis.

Middlemire

At the edge of the Gloommire, the village of Middlemire is a small peat-farming community.

Sweyn Cragbreeze

(dwarf, TN): Owner of the Dragon's Blood Firewater distillery. The stills in the distillery are fuelled with peat from the Gloommire. The spirits are aged for many years in barrels that are buried in the mire, which for some unknown reasons turns them dark crimson, hence the name.

Leah's Grove

This remote grove was founded by Leah Greenleaf, a druid of the sun. She teaches other of similar persuasion here. The druids are not members of the Pilgrim Knights, but their purposes are usually aligned. Except for during the summer solstice, there are rarely more than a handful of druids here at any one time.

Leah Greenleaf

(human druid, NG): A powerful archdruidess. While she does not look more than 60, she is well over 300 years old, sustained by her druidic powers. Married to Nythwe Elsiter.

The Lighthills

On the eastern side of Vanadis, which is largely uninhabited, lies a large lake, named for the white marble that dominates the landscape around it. It is large enough that one cannot see the other side from the shore, and a rapidly flowing river connects it to the sea.

Aurora's Sanctum

On a small island in the middle of the Whitepond lies a secret monastery of Sun Soul monks, kept hidden from all but the highest ranking Pilgrim Knights. Saint Arwyn, sent from Folkvang by Freya herself, teaches a chosen handful of monks to be instruments of the Goddess' power and seek out and illuminate the darkest parts of the world.

Dawnfort

Dawnfort occupies a narrow strip of land between the mountains and the ocean, protecting against any incursions from the Arid Frontier. It is the first part of the Pilgrim lands that see the sunrise each day. The highest tower of Dawnfort is a lighthouse overlooking the sea, and it also houses a chapel where sun-greeting rituals are performed.

The Hoofmoot

The Cliffstride clan, a nomadic tribe of centaurs who roam the rocky grassland keeps call their caravan the Hoofmoot. They wander with the seasons around the Whitepond, whose waters they consider holy.

Chieftain Rhozi

(centaur druid, ln): Chieftain of the Cliffstride clan. Wise and old, he is a capable druid whose leadership has served the Cliffstride well for many decades.

The Blasted Forest

In the depths of the forest, no animals are heard and all the trees have been flattened in a radial pattern. At the center lies an ever-smoking rock of strange material.
