Estia

Estia is the biggest and most populous island in its eponymous archipelago. It is also the seat of the Estian League, along with Cottenhorn and the United Archipelago. The two biggest cities are Greystone and Covenant. While the major roads are mostly safe, the wilderness between the cities is largely unkempt, and there is little telling exactly what or who lives there.

While most of the population of Estia lives in the cities along the coast and rivers, there are many small hamlets and villages in the frontier countryside. The ore-rich Silverpeaks divides the island into its distinct regions. The regions of Estia mostly correspond to its counties, but not fully.

The Halcyon Glades

In the middle of Estia, a large swamp surrounds Lake Tema. From Lake Tema, the Quickwater runs down to Greystone and the sea. The deepest parts of this dense wetland forest is said to be home to green dragons, trolls, bandits, giant mosquitos, oozes, and other denizens of the gloom.

Greystone

The walled city of Greystone lies where the Quickwater river meets the sea. Behind its high walls lies a bustling trading port where goods and gold are exchanged at a breakneck pace. The native population is mostly human, with a smattering of elves and dwarves. The city was founded in 841 AUC as an Empire outpost, but has grown into a lively city. It is the largest city-state in the Estian League, and it can muster a large army.

Tembridge

Tembridge is a mining town on Estia. It sits on the edge of Lake Tema, where the Quickwater runs towards Greystone. It is a mining town, almost all ore from the mines in the surrounding mountains pass through here and there are several big smelters and smithies in town.

Trollvatn

In the deep parts of the Halcyon Glades, the Trollvatn is a small lake whose shores are known to be home to several tribes of trolls. The foragers and hunters from Jotunnadal almost always try to steer clear of it.

The Deepglades

Beyond Lake Tema lies the Deepglades. Small strips of dryer lands connect mossy "islands", where black dragons, ankhegs, and giant spiders make their lairs. The foothills of the Estian mountains are pierced with caves where orc tribes make their home. The orcs sometimes launch raids on the nearby mines and villages.

Bay of Aphenor

Named for the city that was renamed Covenant when the Compact of Friendship was signed.

Covenant

The city of Covenant is the capital of the Estian League. It was founded after the empire fell, as a capital city for the new nation. The city is built in concentric rings, centered around Council Hall. It was built as a unifying symbol around the exact place where the treaty that established the League was signed, then a small town called Aphenor.

Kundamar

The city of Kundamar was once the capital of the dwarven kingdom that ruled Estia before the Empire invaded. Back then, it was home to over 50000 people, but now it only a couple thousand people inhabit it. The remains of Kundamar is ruled over by Clan Dragonbrand, who have ruled here since the days of the kingdom. They begrudingly swear allegiance to House Beckett, whom they perceive to be invaders and occupiers.

Greatjarl's Mausoleum

North of Kundamar, hewn into the mountainside is an immense stone door flanked by eroded statues. Behind the door lies the burial place of the greatjarls of the Old Kingdom, the dwarven realm that once controlled most of Estia, before the Empire conquered it.

The Wheatplains

The League's breadbasket, the fertile Wheatplains are densely populated. The landscape consists of rolling hills dotted with farms, apiaries, and orchards.

Owl Rock

Owl Rock and its surrounding villages on the Wheatplains produce far more food than they need, which has given the ruling Tuveren family more money and influence than the population of their holdings might suggest.

Honeypot

Honeypot is a small halfling village in the Wheatplains. As the name suggests, they are renowned for their apiaries. The honey, and mead made from it, is exported to Owl Rock and beyond. While less than a thousand people live in the town itself, about as many more live in the outlying farms and hamlets.

Ruins of Snakemire

Snakemire was once a thriving village at the edge of the wheatplains, until it was destroyed by rampaging undead. The Purple Legion and the Pilgrim Knights managed to cleanse it, but the ruins have laid abandoned for many years.

The Black Forest

The Black Forest was described as "a vast sea of needles" in one of the earliest known Teccan accounts of Estia. Travelers can pass many miles here with no other company than tall pines.

Myrknes

In the northern part of Estia lies Myrknes, the northermost major settlement on Estia accessible by road from Greystone.

Mossmaw Pass

Almost exactly half-way between Greystone and Myrknes lies the most difficult part of that journey. The serpentine path goes up a steep slope, before passing beneath the Mossfjell.

The Windward Coast

Bounded to the north by Stonymoor, a great peat bog, and to the west by the open ocean, the Windward Coast is exposed to nature on all fronts.

Whitport

Whitport lies at the end of a bay of the Windward Coast, west of Covenant. It is the smallest constituent city-state in the League, famous for its porcelain, which is produced in both large factories and small artisan shops. The finest Whitport porcelain is extremely expensive, usually painted with decorative motifs. The city uses the red-white-and-blue banner of House Ashworth.

Mirecairn

On the edge of the vast Stonymoor lies Mirecairn, a remote settlement north of Whitport. The villagers harvest the peat for fuel and other uses, both for their own use and to sell.

The Frozen Reaches

The northern coast of Estia is sparsely inhabited compared to its southern coast, consisting mostly of windswept tundra and dark forests.

Icestrand

A whaling outpost far north of Myrknes. Around 1200 people live here, sending dangerous expeditions into the frigid northern sea to fish or hunt for whales. The large whale-oil boileries by the docks give the whole town a very characteristic acrid smell.

The Silverpeaks

A large sickle-shaped mountain range surrounds the Halcyon Glades. The tallest peaks are permanently covered with snow.

The Argent Summit

The Argent Summit is the highest mountain on Estia, and is the roost of the ancient silver dragon Tepyristes. The peak is almost always surrounded by dense clouds, letting Tepyristes and his brood come and go as they like. Few of the inhabitants of Estia know about this community, and even fewer have visited.
