House Elentirel

Windmaster

The ships of House Elentirel are welcome traders all across the Estian Sea, always bringing luxorious goods to trade. In total, the fleet consists of about three dozen ocean-going sailing ships of various sizes. Most of the Amnoran trade is carried by ship, and House Elentirel controls a majority of the ships, docks, and yards. Outsider ships have to pay large duties on all exports and imports, making it very hard to compete on price.

The Elentirel retinue consists of sailors and marines, who ensure the security of the ships and docks. Most Elentirel ships are captained by a member of the family, with only a few commanded by hired hands. Each ship also carries a dedicated chartmaster, who advises the captain in navigation, records the ship's voyage, and updates the charts with new soundings. Once back in Tel Amnora, the master charts are updated with new information. The Elentirel charts are kept secret, with only captains and chartmasters allowed to review the master charts.

House Elentirel is a staunch ally to House Eriliex, whose silk wares makes up a large share of the goods traded by ship. They have a long-standing rivalry with the FTC on the oceans, and with House Fenalar in Amnoran politics.

House Elentirel has a blue crest that shows a sunset and the two beacons that stand on either side of the entrance to the Tel Amnoran basin.

Sinsire

The Elentirel manor is the only one of the princely houses that is not on dry land. Instead, they live on Sinsire (lit the Sea-bird), a massive houseboat that is moored in Inner City harbor. The three-masted ship is built from white lumber, with its blue triangular windsilk sails always at the ready.

The ship is boarded via an embarkation platform wide enough to drive a carriage up. The top deck of the ship is designed for entertaining and leisure. The quarterdeck has the ships wheel, as well as a more private area where many trade deals have been finalized.

Despite not being a manor house in the normal sense, Sinsire has all the comforts one could desire. The Sinsire ball, held during late summer, is one of the most anticipated events of the Amnoran social calendar.

Ideals

  • Freedom: I go where my sails take me. (Chaotic)
  • Commerce: A fair deal is a good deal. (Neutral)
    • Knowing who to sell to is as important as what to sell.
    • For a small cut, I am happy to broker a deal between my contacts.
